Party pants! Not all holiday parties are formal, and most dresses are not warm enough in the fall, so you need some party pant looks for these more casual holiday parties.

One of my favorites are these L'agence coated cropped flared jeans from @bloomingdales. The stretch and comfort is out of this world and the color is luscious. I usually hate coated pants, but these are wonderful! Sizing wise, order your true size and a size down to compare. I am wearing a size 28 and I am 125lbs, 5’ 4”, size 4/6.

I have paired it with one of the best black tops made this year by Veronica Beard. This top is basically a fancy t-shirt. The ruffles are bold, but not unflattering, and the bodice is ribbed and stretchy. It runs large, so order a size down. I am wearing a small, but I needed an xs.

You can pair this pant with pointed toe flats, heeled loafers, an open toe heel, and slim, fitted booties.

PS The holiday season is when I shop the most for myself because the sales are phenomenal - and no one beats Bloomingdale’s combination of stuff you actually want to buy + sales. They always have something - a sale on top of a sale, a gift card with purchases, daily steals. Right now (11/14 - 11/21) is the THANKSGIVING SALE: TAKE $25 OFF EVERY $100 on tons of items.

Today is Election Day! 🗳

No matter your political affiliation, please vote for Democrats all the way down the ballot to stop the national abortion ban and other draconian laws. Plus, actual democracy is on the line here. There are 12 republicans running for Secretary of State - this is the position that oversees and certifies the elections - who have openly said, regardless of what the vote count is, they will declare Republicans winners of the next election. How does that not automatically disqualify them in the USA? It’s a weird time y’all! Vote accordingly.

Lastly, please offer to help someone vote today. Check in with your rational friends and family and make sure they have voted. Today is the last day to vote!

I am fond of old things, like vintage clothes and record players. But when it comes to healthcare, I am all about the new. So, you can imagine how I feel about republicans attacking IVF and other modern medical care and assistance. I am 40-years old and doubt I can have a biological child without IVF.

My friend is going to start trying for a much wanted baby and she is scared because she travels to anti-abortion states for work. Women in their late 30’s have a 30% chance of miscarriage and if this happens while she is in an anti-abortion state, they will not help her. Forced birth laws have been detrimental for pregnant womens’ healthcare. In these states, women are going septic after being refused healthcare during miscarriages. So, she is going to speak to her company about ending travel to these states with abortion bans. She can’t risk having a botched miscarriage. If a miscarriage is not handled correctly, it can ruin her chances to have a baby. She really wants to be a mom. She also doesn't want to die right now.

And then there are the 12 year-old rape victims that are being denied abortions.

I will not be passive on this. And I hope you won’t either. Please vote for Democrats down the ballot this year. Please talk to your rational friends and family and ask them to vote for Democrats this year. Please vote for pro-choice politicians down the ballot so we can avoid a national abortion ban and other weird medical bans.

If a personal fashion stylist that dressed republicans for most of her career (me) has to come out as a massive activist, you know your country is in trouble. No matter your political affiliation, I am begging you to vote for democrats tomorrow, Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Comment below if you have already voted blue or if you plan to vote blue. @amourvert review! I still remember getting their catalog for the first time. It was one of the first sustainable clothing lines I felt had mass appeal. These days many of my clients love them, but like all brands, you need to know what to get. It’s especially easy to get lost or not appreciate a clothing line that produces mostly simple pieces, so I want to show you my top two items from Amour Vert almost everyone will love: the Everly dream knit jumpsuit, and Fiona Paris ribbed mock neck top in darkest spruce.

The jumpsuit is aptly named. It is a freaking dream. I love wearing this in my home office because it feels like PAJAMAS, but looks amazing on Zoom. And it has pockets. Pockets! Pockets! Did I mention how SOFT and FLATTERING it is?

Fiona Paris ribbed mock neck top in darkest spruce is one of the most unique basics I have ever owned. Everywhere I go in this top, I get compliments as if I'm wearing one of my bold statement dresses. I have never received so many compliments while wearing something so simple. Also, you know I prefer open necks for busty women, but for busty women wanting to try a higher neckline this fall, this is the one to try! The fit is perfection. Just be sure you wear a bra that doesn't pinch back fat - that’s a tip for everyone.

Panama is fascinating! The city is a tropical metr

Panama is fascinating! The city is a tropical metropolis with a diverse population and stunning skyscrapers directly next to the sea. The views are uniquely gorgeous to say the least.

The Casco Viejo historic district is like New Orleans and New York’s East Village had a baby and then taught that baby to salsa.

The croissants and pineapples are amazing everywhere.

They use American dollars and prices are only slightly lower than San Diego.

Panama canal’s Miraflores lock is 20 minutes from the city. The history of the Panama Canal is incredible, but watching a ship pass through a lock very, very slowly was a bit like watching water boil. I’m delighted I went, but you don’t need to be at this standalone tourist spot for more than an hour.

Gamboa is 30 minutes from the city. Here we boarded a rickety boat with our hired guide to get to monkey island. When we arrived, we floated around the islands’ edges making kissing noises. Eventually, the monkeys swung from the branches, landed on our boat and grabbed our food. They hate avocados, but love grapes, bananas and peanuts. We then went to an indigenous village on another tiny island where I purchased handmade jewelry and pestered the women for beauty tips.

Getting your teeth cleaned is the epitome of self care. Another HUGE part of self care is asking detailed questions of your healthcare professionals. I did both yesterday. Here is my story…

I get my teeth cleaned every 3 months at a dental practice I took a long time to find. Recently I have noticed that my jaw is angling to the left and it aches if I open my mouth wide. I brought it up with a new dentist seeing me and she decided all four wisdom teeth needed to go with not much reason why. As she was explaining the process to me in a little room, I asked her if she would be the one to do it. She stopped and said no. I then asked, may I speak with the person who would be doing the surgery. She said, actually yes.

The oral surgeon they fly out from South Dakota each month was in the office that day and he would be the one to do it. He came into the room, looked at my x-ray, became visibly annoyed, brought the dentist back in, and said there is a lot more going on in my x-ray than just an impacted wisdom tooth on the upper left. I had temporomandibular disorder. The disc in my left jaw was completely worn down. It is a repetitive stress injury caused by excessive chewing. I do in fact chew gum for a few minutes almost everyday. He said, never, ever chew gum again. My disc may hydrate if I leave it alone, and the pain should subside slightly. I asked question after question and he continued to educate me. I learned so much yesterday and so did the new dentist. The surgeon said the one impacted wisdom tooth should still be removed because there is a miniscule sac of bacteria growing under the gums, but it can wait 12-18 months if I wanted. It is not an emergency. The rest can stay. “We only remove a wisdom tooth if the dangers from it staying outweigh the dangers of taking it out.”

Moral of my story: get your teeth cleaned. And ask heaps of questions. If you are asking nicely, and the healthcare professional is still irritated by your questions or doesn't have answers, kindly ask to speak to someone else. There is always someone with answers.

This @bloomingdales lightweight cashmere sweater is perfect for those over air-conditioned buildings without being hot. It’s more of a cozy blouse versus an actual sweater. Those soft mesh sleeves allow nice airflow and it is so light, I forget I am wearing a turtleneck. It is also amazing if you are sensitive to fabrics, like moi! This particular cashmere did not irritate me at all. It has full Vanessa approval. And right now it’s 25% off. You guessed it. Bloomingdale's is having its famous friends and family sale (Ends Monday Oct 10th.) I tend to stock up on Bloomie goodies (especially their fine jewelry) during this sale.

This side zip Lafayette pant in the cappuccino color has been a comfy slimming savior for my curvier clients. It is cut for rounder hips and fuller thighs, which is not my body type, so I am not doing it justice by showing you them on me. The only place I fill it out appropriately is in the belly, because that is where I carry my “curves”. Despite its stretchy glory, it is made from a strong medium weight fabric that does not reveal cellulite and can masquerade as a structured pant - so its perfection for work. Especially if you don’t like tucking in your shirt. A side zip pant is all about the untucked tops. Sizing note: it runs large. I am wearing a size 2 when I am usually wearing a 4 or 6.

On my feet I have some super fun evil eye Kurt Geiger mules. A great shoe to perk up your work wardrobe.
