Product Review – Red Engine Stretch Skinny Jeans

Red-engine-skinny-jean

Last week I received a pair of Super Stretch Skinny jeans by Red Engine in a cinder wash. The quality is evident. The wash is dark, even and timeless. And the waist and bum area feels amazing. It says it slims the hip and lifts in the back and I am inclined to agree. It fits that area of mine perfectly. It is snug without being tight and doesn’t push my fat out – this is rare for me. Whenever I buy jeans, they are either too tight (which I have zero tolerance for) or they fit “perfectly” until I realize that I bought them too big as they slowly slide down my hips and get baggy after a wear or two.

Red Engine credits this snug, but not tight fit to teaming up with fiber scientists at DOW XLA™. Red Engine’s collection since Fall ’09 is cut from high quality denim made with DOW XLA™Re:Flex4™ Fiber. This patent-pending stretch denim fabric technology adapts to the body’s silhouette with a custom-like fit, thanks to it’s multi-dimensional 4 way flexibility and sole objective: to keep skinny jeans skinny. Red Engine’s DOW XLA™Re:Flex4™ Jeans ($144 – $170, at certain boutiques nationwide) claim to be the first and only skinny jeans scientifically engineered to keep their shape.

I wanted to see what would make up such a jean so I checked the tag and this is what it reads: 55% cot, 33% Pes, and 2% Lstl. The first is obviously cotton, the second I believe to be polyethersulfone and the last I don’t know.

Anyhoo, I have been wearing them all day and I love the light weight of them, the comfortable feel, and every woman needs a pair of jeans in this dressy wash. As for their non-stretch claim, I don’t think I have worn them long enough to say yes or no. But they haven’t so far.

Now, are these jeans for me? No, and I’ll tell you why. Everything in the waist and bum fits me amazing, but the pant legs are too big for me. The Red Engine skinny jean is perfect for the woman who has larger thighs and legs. This is the anti skinny jean, skinny jean. This is the best choice for a woman who wants to try a skinny jean without experiencing the trendy, skin tight denim that young girls sport. In other words, these jeans will give you the stylish and flattering look of the skinny jean without the fight to get in, the unbalanced look and the unattractive squeeze. This is the jean that proves skinny jeans can be for (most) everyone.

My product reviews are my honest and personal opinion. I never accept payment for product reviews although I am given the sample to keep. If I am sent something that is unimpressive or boring I don’t write about it.

Leave a note for Vanessa.
