The button front shirt tends to stay in the work area of the closet, but there are some fabulous and stylish button fronts popping up in stores that can easily be taken out for casual and social events. My two favorites I have spotted recently I put on one of my client and a model I styled recently.
One reason I love the button front for weekend wear is the put together look of it. Many women love to feel that structure of the buttons, but can’t always pull it off without looking stuffy. Also, it is slimming! This look, which hasn’t really been seen since the nineties, can cover slight belly bulge, light upper arm issues and subtle back bumps.
If you are looking to pull off the modern version of a casual button front, keep in mind these regulations:
1) Made of silk or silky in texture.
2) A fitted fit without actually hugging the body – just skimming your torso.
3) Hits past the hips.
4) Fun details and/or fabulous pattern.
To ensure no one confuses you for leaving the office, all these aspects are essential. Also, because it is being used like a tunic, be sure to pair it with slim fit jeans, leggings or cigarette pants.
