My clients are always requesting white sneakers. They believe white sneakers go with “everything.” Interestingly enough, they do not, and it is always a struggle to find a good pair. In fact, I have put off this post on the best white sneakers for women because there are never enough excellent pairs of stylish white sneakers to necessitate an entire article on the matter — until now. Darlings, I finally found the BEST white sneaker for women as well as some wonderful honorable mentions to share with you.

How To Wear White Sneakers

First of all, a white sneaker can act as a pop of color at the bottom of a monochromatic look for just about any color. Other than that, here’s how to wear white sneakers…

1. There must be a smiler shade of white somewhere else in your outfit.
2. Optic white sneakers pair with bright colors, super-saturated shades, and crisp pastels.
3. Off-white sneakers pair with most other colors, but especially more muted tones.
4. White sneakers go best with shorts, athletic leggings, joggers, short casual dresses (like t-shirt dresses), and cropped straight-leg pants/jeans

I generally skip white sneakers with maxi and midi dresses. There are exceptions, of course. Check out Shelbi from Bucket List Bums rocking white sneakers with lots of longer dresses, but I would describe most of these looks as “making it work” versus thriving flattering outfits. It is more flattering to show more leg when wearing white sneakers.

How To Clean White Sneakers

First of all, before you wear one of the brand-new white sneakers I have recommended to you above and below, you MUST spray them with a silicon protectant. I use the Kiwi Protectant Spray.

This will keep your white sneakers clean for dramatically longer. But it is not foolproof and it eventually wears. When your kicks start to look sad, here is how to clean them:

1. Supplies: Before you begin cleaning your white sneakers, gather all the necessary supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:

• • Soft-bristle brush or toothbrush
  • Mild detergent or universal shoe cleaner
  • Warm water
  • Microfiber cloth or sponge
  • Baking soda (optional)
  • Toothpaste (optional)
  • White vinegar (optional)

2. Remove shoelaces and insoles: Start by removing the shoelaces and insoles from your white sneakers. This will allow you to clean them more effectively and reach all the nooks and crannies. You can throw the shoelaces in a mesh bag and wash them normally in your washing machine.
3. Pre-treat stains: If there are visible stains on your white sneakers, it’s a good idea to pre-treat them before starting the cleaning process. Mix a small amount of mild detergent or sneaker cleaner with warm water to create a soapy solution. Apply the solution to the stained areas and gently scrub with a soft-bristle brush or toothbrush. For stubborn stains, you can use a paste made from baking soda and water or a small amount of toothpaste. Let the pre-treatment sit for a few minutes before proceeding.
4. Clean your white sneakers: Fill a bowl with warm water and add a small amount of mild detergent or sneaker cleaner. Swirl the water to create a soapy solution. Dip the microfiber cloth or sponge into the soapy water and wring out any excess moisture. Gently wipe the entire surface of your white sneakers, paying extra attention to areas with dirt or stains. Use the soft-bristle brush or toothbrush to clean the rubber soles and other hard-to-reach areas. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage. DO NOT SUBMERGE your sneakers in the water.
5. Rinse: Once you’ve cleaned your sneakers, soak a clean cloth in clean water (not the soapy water from the previous step). Wring it out a bit, and wipe down your sneakers to remove any remaining soap residue. Make sure to rinse off all the detergent or sneaker cleaner from the surface of your shoes.
6. Dry: Once you have wiped your sneakers down thoroughly, use a clean microfiber cloth or towel to blot excess water from them. Allow the sneakers to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Stuffing them with crumpled paper or clean socks can help retain their shape while drying.

Bonus Tip: For stubborn stains, you can create a cleaning solution using equal parts of warm water and white vinegar. Apply the solution to the stained areas and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping it off.
