The camel color gets its name because it resembles the hair of a camel. I love when the names of colors make sense. Fun fact: it was first recorded as the name of a color in English in 1916. But back to 2019… Nothing subtly screams sophisticated like the camel color. We all need more of it, and the shopping is absolutely luscious right now, so stock up ladies. You will notice I took some liberties with the camel color — some garments are more tan, golden pecan or cognac, but it’s all in the same vein of the hue.
Colors To Wear With The Camel Color
Both earth tones and black go with the camel color. Think all the earthy greens, ivory, cream, burgundy, plum, all the browns, and navy blue. I also love to pair a classic camel color with a bold red as well as with light greys.
Camel Color No-Nos
Do not pair a yellowy camel right next to your face if you have a yellow undertone. In fact, many camel shades are difficult for various skin tones, so I often like to keep camel below the waist and away from my face. You also don’t want to pair camel with pastels, bright colors, or pinks. Pink in any form does not go with a true camel color. Keep it earthy, and skip yellow for the most part. Unless your camel is dancing with the idea of being brown. Yellow and dark brown are a gorgeous pair.
