I love a bit of romance, decadence, fantasy, old tradition (when it doesn’t offend me) and of course shoes and champagne. Obviously then, you can understand my interest in champagne’s most extravagant ritual. This October 19th Piper-Heidsieck’s Le Rituel by Christian Louboutin, an interpretation of a long-lost champagne tradition, arrives in the United States.
In the 19th century a prima ballerina, after a successful performance, would occasionally find herself being toasted by a gentleman with her own dance slipper filled with champagne. In honor of that rare tradition Christian Louboutin has designed a crystal heel to serve as a champagne flute for Piper-Heidsiek’s Brut. Stunning in it’s grandeur, I can’t even imagine how I would drink from it, but I would sure like to find out. It is now available on eBay.
