The best blazers for women need stretch. Besides the added comfort of a stretch blazer, women’s bodies and breasts vary so much that in order for one blazer to fit many women, it has to stretch. After sporting a stretchy blazer, it’s hard to go back to the structured blazer — and we don’t have to! The stretch blazer selection right now is fantastic.
Blazers with a small percentage of elastane or spandex usually have the type of stretch that we’re looking for — though that’s not always the case! You’ll notice there’s a 100% wool blazer that made my list of the best stretch blazers, while my all-time favorite linen blazer did not make the cut, despite having a small percentage of spandex. What an online consumer may not realize, is that a small percentage of spandex may be in reference to the lining inside, which is great! A touch of spandex in the lining of a structured blazer definitely makes it more comfortable, but I wouldn’t call it a stretch blazer — and neither would your shoulders.
The best way to know if a blazer is truly a stretchy blazer is to try it on. But lucky for you, I’ve done all the legwork (or should I say, arm work?).
