Summer calls for shorts, but this summer turn your back on the usually denim and kakhi riff raff. Think more along the lines of Audrey Hepburn and Joan Collins in the 50's. This year the short list will be brief in length, but lasting in style.
A one stop for some some chic shorts is J.Crew. I just bought both of these printed shorts (avg. $59) pictured below for one of my clients. One feels like a thick linen while the other is more silky. Both are comfortable with a slimming fit. J.Crew also has some great solid color shorts, but an sleek printed short is an essential.
Bloomingdale's is another stop for a unique pair of shorts. Pictured below is a chambray short by Aqua ($58) that would look glamourous with a breezy button front top in white. This is a great alternative to denim shorts and a lot more comfortable. Note, you will notice that shorts look terrible on the model. It is because she is too thin. Same with J.Crew. These shorts look a lot better on regular women then skinny girls – thank goodness!
Another hot pair 'o shorts are by Michael Kors ($59.50). Michael Kors pants are a horrendous fit on me (they are tight in the waist, huge in the bum area on me), but I am hoping the shorts are a different story. How do Michael Kors shorts fit you?
These shorts by Catherine Malandrino ($275) is for the woman with wide shoulders and small hips. Referred to as an upside down triangle shape. These draped sides are beautiful, but will add weight to any other body type. Feel free to pair these with a slim fit tank top and a cropped sweater for an elegant look.
Next, I want to show you this railroad print, linen short from
Banana Republic ($59.50). Obviously a pair of shorts to tuck in your shirt. Love the way they tied the self belt.
Lastly, a sexy take on the military look of shorts by Forever 21 ($15.80). These olive green slim fitting shorts will go with so many items in your closet, especially that breezy white button front shirt I mentioned earlier.
