It’s all about staying indoors or getting outdoors — and staying out of stores. The REI Anniversary Sale is a little different this year with all of their stores closed, so they made it better. There is more on sale than ever before, but of course, I am only featuring the most stylish of outdoor wear. I am especially ecstatic about the inclusion of Keen’s hiking boots. They are hands down the most stylish (as well as effective) hiking boots I have ever worn. They are my go-to boot for my clients.
REI Anniversary Sale Roundup
The REI Anniversary sale always features its own brand drastically reduced, but they also partner with some of our favorite brands, like Patagonia, to offer big discounts on new items. It’s just like the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, but for the outdoors. I also love REI like I love Nordstrom. Their customer service is incredible and they guarantee most of their products. If you buy something from REI and it doesn’t perform, you can return it, even if it has already been worn. If you have read the book, Wild by Cheryl Strayed, you know REI makes a wonderful appearance to save Cheryl’s feet in the middle of her hike.
Where Can I Wear My New REI Clothes?
Many parks and campgrounds are starting to open with the stipulation that we social distance, avoid crowded areas, and, of course, “pack it in, pack it out.” You can also sit at home, sport your new duds, and go to a park virtually! The National Park Service website has all this information and more. And of course, you can also buy it now and wear it later. A shopping style that I have been enjoying. I just bought myself some lavender Azalea slingback heels from Naturalizer that will not be seen outside my house for a bit.

Yes, this is an athletic wear jumpsuit! It’s made from stretchy recycled polyester and spandex for comfort and mobility. The fabric has also been treated with a durable water repellent to shed moisture. REI Co-op Multisport Quarter Socks – 2 Pairs
Recycle your old sad socks at H&M, and invest in some quality socks. My biggest pet peeve is saving gross socks you never wear — or worse, you actually wear the gross socks.
Patagonia Swell Seeker Long-Sleeve One-Piece Swimsuit
You know I adore a long sleeve swimsuit. I am terribly vain, but love the outdoors — this is the best way to prevent skin damage and still rock the water.

Patagonia Happy Hike Studio Pants
Another one of my favorites from the REI Anniversary sale, this jogger has a whole lot going on. The UPF 50+ fabric shields against harmful UV rays. It is Fair Trade Certified™ which means it was sewn in a Fair Trade approved facility. It’s durable water repellent (DWR) finish helps moisture bead on the surface. It has two front drop-in handwarmer pockets because why not. It is made from 89% recycled polyester needle stitch detail. And the partially elasticized cuffs at the ankle can be worn down or pushed up to your calves. These pants are available at REI and Backcountry.

Update: After reading this post, a client wrote to me about her experience with Salomon. “Now that I am retired and living in Nice, France, I cannot obtain much of what you display, but it is still fun. I had a really hard time finding hiking shoes/boots locally. Amazon.fr is also very limited, but that is where I discovered the Salomon brand. After much research, I bought these models: Speedcross 4 Trail Run and Salomon X Ultra3 Mid GTX. I absolutely love them both. They are comfy enough to hike in without [having to] break them in. I wore them on a fabulous 8-day hike in the Italian Alps in September and never had sore feet. Longest day was 9 rocky miles. I have a slightly narrow foot, so many comfort brands are too loose for me. If you have clients with that issue, these are perfect!”
